Hunger Games: Catching Fire Barbie Dolls

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Barbie dolls are available for pre-order!

I have the original Katniss doll, and I love her. I've been waiting for the images of the Catching Fire dolls to become available, and finally http://www.barbiecollector.com has them available for pre-order.

So what do you think?

Katniss

Peeta

Effie

Finnick

How do you think the dolls look? Personally, I'm still biased towards the original Katniss doll from the first movie. Maybe I will like this one more after I see Catching Fire. I was honestly expecting Effie to look a little more flamboyant, but I still think she's pretty, maybe one of her different colored hairstyles would have impressed me more. I WANT to love the Peeta doll, but I'm just not sure yet. I'm sure I will cave and buy him, haha!

Disclosure: This is NOT a sponsored post, I just wanted to share the new dolls!

Sponsor Spotlight on The Sweet Life!

This month, In the Hammock Blog has a fantastic sponsor: The Sweet Life e-novellas by Francine Pascal!

You may remember my review last year of "Sweet Life Confidential: Sweet Valley High 10 Years Later." It was a fun, addictive read! This new series of ebooks are the continuation of Jessica and Elizabeth's life in their 30s. If you thought the Wakefield twins were scandalous in high school, wait until you read about them now!

Each ebook novella is only $1.99! There are 6 all new stories!

Here's some info about the first book in the e-series:

The Sweet Life #1

Description from Sweet Valley 10 Years Later:

From Francine Pascal, creator of the bestselling SWEET VALLEY HIGH series and author of the NY Times bestselling SWEET VALLEY CONFIDENTIAL, comes the continuing adventures of beautiful blonde twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield in an exciting new six-part e-serial, THE SWEET LIFE.
The first novella-length episode – THE SWEET LIFE #1 – begins three years after the events of Sweet Valley Confidential; Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield are back in Sweet Valley and inseparable once more. Things are looking up for both twins: Elizabeth is a star reporter at the LA Tribune with a popular blog, and Jessica’s PR career is on the fast-track. But while the professional lives of the Wakefield sisters are secure, their personal lives may be in jeopardy. Jessica, now a mother, finds that managing parenthood, marriage, and a job is harder than she expected, while Elizabeth and Bruce must face a scandal that could strengthen their bond…or tear them apart for ever.
Meanwhile, life goes on in Sweet Valley. Families are made, hearts are broken, and…Lila Fowler is a reality TV star? Some things never change.
THE SWEET LIFE #1 takes Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield through a new chapter in their well-chronicled and beloved lives. This dramatic first installment and cliff-hanger ending will leave readers breathless for the next episode.

Book News: Cozy Classics Trailer

You may remember that I posted these cute little board books a few weeks ago (see the post here)! Cozy Classics by Jack and Holman Wang feature adorable needle felted illustrations of two classics: Pride and Prejudice and Moby Dick.

I'm happy to be the first US blogger to post the brand new trailer for the books! Check it out and enjoy!! I love that the word featured beside Darcy refusing to dance with Elizabeth is "mean" it's just too cute and funny. Can't wait for these books to be released!

Book News: Cozy Classics

While surfing the net today, I found the most adorable new baby board books based on classics! Cozy Classics feature photos of needle-felted figures as the illustrations. They are published by Simply Read Books and written and illustrated by Jack Wang and Holman Wang. They are really retro to me in a great way :)

The two books in the series so far are "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen and "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville. What a great way to introduce little ones to the classics!

You can check out the website for the books to see more of the awesome illustrations here: mycozyclassics.com

Hmmmm...A Little Too Similar?

Yesterday, while I was checking out everyone's Waiting on Wednesday posts, I came across a new to me book called "Poison" by Bridget Zinn. I thought, wow, that cover reminds me so much of the Snow White and the Huntsman poster. On closer inspection, the two aren't just similar, they're nearly exactly alike!!

The ladies are wearing pretty much the exact same outfit, same color, same puff sleeves, same dark leggings, and same grey hem peeking out. They are in the same pose, only flipped. Snow White holds a knife where the Poison heroine holds a vial. The background is shadowy trees, and both even have mushrooms on the ground! This is more than a coincidence to me, what do you think?

I'd also like to say that this post has no ill feelings towards the author, we all know that authors have little to no say in what their covers look like. I'm not even sure which image came first, all I have noticed is that they are eerily similar.

Snow White poster found here: PerezHilton.com

Cover revealed: Sweet Valley Confidential!

Cover revealed for Sweet Valley Confidential!

I love it!! Definitely makes me want to pick up the book, and I love how the circle and logo on the front echoes the original books!!

The book is released March 29, 2011 but you can visit http://www.sweetvalleytenyearslater.com/ to tide you over until then!!

"Fragments" Marilyn Monroe's Writings Released this Fall

Exciting book news today! Never before seen personal writings and correspondence from Marilyn Monroe will be released as a book this fall by publisher Farrar, Straus and Giroux. The book will be titled "Fragments" and will contain various writings from Marilyn herself from 1943 to her death in 1962. Expect diary entries, letters, and thoughts jotted down on paper.

This is really exciting to me because I think Marilyn was such a complex person, and she was so different than the image she worked so hard to portray. A part of me thinks that its an invasion of privacy-did she really want her personal writings released? But the part of me that is a fan really wants to know more about her life so I can understand her better.
